KOICHI FUKAYA President and CEO DENSO CORPORATION

Our theme for the 37th Tokyo Motor Show is "DENSO Technology for a Better Future of Humans and Automobiles." Needless to say, automobiles in the 21st century must have less impact on the environment and be even safer. DENSO, as a global leader in the auto parts industry, conducts R&D on the environment and safety, and I'd like to introduce our work in these two fields.

An automobile-related company's response to the environment may determine its own fate. To become an environmentally advanced company, DENSO considers environmental protection in all its activities, including planning, development, design, manufacturing, marketing and services. Among others, we are developing new technologies that will reduce the environmental burden of vehicles. We're also tackling higher fuel efficiency, exhaust gas purification and car air conditioning systems that have minimal impact on global warming.

We are increasing the energy efficiency of auto parts and developing key components of hybrid vehicles to boost fuel efficiency to help prevent global warming and resource depletion. We are also developing ITS-related products to reduce traffic congestion and thus reduce fuel consumption.

In order to reduce the automobile exhaust emissions of both diesel and gasoline vehicles, we create technologies not only to meet intensifying emissions regulations but also to minimize exhaust emissions.

As a leading manufacturer of automobile climate control systems, DENSO conducts research on natural refrigerant air conditioners to minimize the adverse effects of car air conditioning products on global warming.

Automobile safety is one of the top priorities in making vehicles. DENSO makes no compromise in the pursuit of safety in its R&D.

We are strengthening our technology development capabilities in every area, including devices, control algorithms, networks and systems, all to maximize the performance and reliability of our safety products.

Although we have so far focused mainly on passive safety to reduce damage in collisions including air bags and pre-crash safety systems, we will strategically develop active safety technologies for safe driving systems.

Our latest achievements are displayed at our booth at the Tokyo Motor Show. On this site detailed information is available on the exhibits.
If you visit the Tokyo Motor Show please stop by the DENSO booth.
